LOOK UP!

Those words echoed through my mind last Saturday as I stared at this beautiful Colorado mountain range early in the morning. Except… I was NOT near the mountains.

Here’s the story…

I couldn’t take my eyes off the majestic silhouette, while gazing at the blue hue of the sky at the break of dawn. That’s when I heard the words, Look Up! Then just as suddenly as I heard them, I woke up!

We were celebrating my Uncle Wayne’s life that day. I had learned the night before that we would be given an opportunity to share some memories and stories if we would like to. He was my favorite uncle and someone I looked up to, but I wasn’t prepared, so before I drifted off to sleep, I said a prayer and asked the Lord to help me think of the right thing to say if I was to do it.

Realizing I woke up in Arkansas, not in Colorado, I pondered what I had just seen and heard and then thought of my precious Uncle and how I had looked up to him. I quickly opened a note on my phone because I knew what I was to share. The Lord had indeed helped me to recall and to organize my thoughts in a way that would bless the family and give glory to God. I was grateful.

As I jotted down what I would say about my uncle, on behalf of the cousins, I was reminded of a favorite passage of scripture that has been a real source of help to my husband and I, when we were in need of assurance, during a past difficult time in our lives. Psalm 121 came to my mind and I knew it would serve to encourage the family. Click to read the short 8 verses or look it up in your Bible. I have the NLT which uses the very words I heard, and the scene I saw in my morning dream, “I look up to the mountains…does my help come from there?” I’m guessing King David was enjoying the view of God’s creation when he wrote the Psalm but he was also declaring that what he saw was not the source of his help. He goes on to say, “My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth!”

I’m sharing this story with you in this month’s eGood News because I have a feeling the truth of this scripture will encourage and strengthen your heart as it has mine. LOOK how the Lord gave me the help I had asked for when I LOOKED TO HIM. He is the one in whom our help comes from. We who trust in Jesus, and believe He is our hope of salvation and our source of all things, have the power of the Holy Spirit living deep within our beings. He’s a direct line of communication we have been given to talk with our Heavenly Father, the One the psalmist was talking about. We can speak to Him & He listens to us. He heard my prayer & He responded with the help I needed…as I slept. Did you watch the video above? I give you a clue to HOW I was able to recognize that God was speaking and helping me. It’s 6 min. Take a listen.

Psalm 121 tells us the Lord, the One who created everything and formed us, is with us, watching over us, standing beside us, keeping us safe as we come and go, while we are awake and when we sleep. He does not sleep and He does not get tired. He watches over us now & will continue to forever! That, my friend is GOOD NEWS! Whatever you are facing today, and whatever fears or anxieties you may have for your tomorrow… I encourage you to LOOK UP at that mountain in front of you & declare that your help comes from the Lord. Then take a pause in your day to pray & ask Him for help! It may come quickly & it may not, but know this, your help is on the way!

As always, if you have a prayer request you’d like me to partner with you on, I would be happy to go to the Lord on your behalf!x

❤️Suzanne
