Tis the Season of receiving and giving gifts. I don’t know about you, but I do truly love to give gifts more than I love to receive them though I’m not opposed to accepting gifts from my loved ones. However, it is my desire to keep Christ the central focus of my attention as much as possible throughout this season of celebrating His birth. So I’d like to share with you something amazing I discovered in the book of 2 Corinthians and I’d like to propose I have found a gift that we can ALL give to God this holiday season.

In 2 Corinthians, chapter 1, we discover God gives us the gifts of comfort, fulfilled promises, joy, forgiveness & hope. We receive these gifts when we receive the gift of Jesus as our Messiah, our King, our Lord and Savior, God’s only begotten Son and gift to the world. When we believe the gospel truth of Jesus, we are given more strength and the Holy Spirit as a personal gift to dwell in our hearts and help us to shine the light of Christ to others. Even in our brokenness, and all the things we are dealing with, when we gaze upon His face in spite of our troubles, others take notice and see HIM!

So as we speak the Good News and life giving words of the Gospel Truth, aka “Tidings”, with our words, our actions and our agreement, check this out: In 2 Corinthians 2:14-16, Paul says, ”But thank God! … Now He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. … to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume…“

The three wise men followed the star that led them to our King. They were drawn to Him. In the same way… according to the Word of God, our very lives will draw people who are being saved, to the bright morning star, Jesus Christ, in which we carry in our hearts. Then according to 2 Corinthians 2:14-16, as we share the Good News of Christ, we too smell like Jesus, and He gathers up His own aroma that seeps from us and He delivers it to our heavenly Father, His Daddy, as a GIFT.  When we receive the greatest gift, and then we re-Gift Him by spreading the Tidings of the Gospel, Jesus delivers our scent to God ~ and in this way, we can ALL give God a beautiful gift this holiday season. And that my friend is GOOD NEWS! Isn’t it beautiful?
