Happy 2025 to you and your family! It’s that time of year many of us take time to reflect upon the last and ponder the new. Many set resolutions, some make goals and others seek the Lord for a Word for the new year. Do any of these resonate with you?
In addition to writing some goals, processes and action steps, I asked the Lord for a word and the word I heard in my spirit for this year is: SEEK! Moments later, I was reading in Luke where Jesus told Peter to take the boat out deeper and let down his nets. When I read the word “deeper,” I asked God where the “deeper” was for me and instantly I heard a small whisper in my heart, “It’s where I lead you.” WOW!
So simple but yet so profound. Here are some things that came to my mind as I pondered and processed what I’d heard. I believe this list applies to all of us, so I’m declaring these things over my life! How about you? Here’s to 2025!
- When I seek the Lord with all my heart, I will find Him. And when I dwell with him, in essence, Jesus is sitting in my boat with me. His presence is near.
- Because Jesus is in my boat, I can rest assured that He will lead me and even if storms come, our boat will not sink and I have no need for fear or worry. In fact, Jesus and I together speak PEACE to the storms and we keep on going.
- I do not have to pre-plan the destination or set a goal of when we will get there, or even try to figure out all the details. Whew! Instead, when Jesus wants to take me into deeper waters, His Spirit will lead me, and I can enjoy the ride.
- I DO need to be resolute in obeying the voice of the Lord who answered my request of “what and where.” He says: SEEK Him and let Him LEAD (follow Him).
- My processes are to ask the Holy Spirit to teach and lead me as I read God’s Word and in spending time praying, listening and writing what I hear Him say. I’ll seek Him every day — starting with a thankful heart and a voice of praise.
- My action steps will be to follow His lead when I sense He is speaking to me. I’ll choose to trust Him more. I’ll replace the noise of the world with His better Word. I’ll create space in my life to seek first His Kingdom, His plans, His ways and be okay with a change of my own plans as I sense His leading that way.
- MY AGREEMENT to SEEK and let Him Lead… is my YES to Jesus! It is truly an adventure with Christ when we live this way, and that is exciting! It removes anxiety, fear & hopelessness when we surrender the control of our lives to Him. I don’t know what tomorrow’s plans may be, but I know who holds my hand and I know whose in my boat. AND THAT IS GOOD NEWS!
Listen! What do you hear God speaking to you?
Enjoy the recording of the LIVE interview I did with Kim Germann Combs on Dec. 3rd. She reached out as she’s starting up her series called: Just Say Yes. So I was thrilled to share what God had put on my heart. It was an easy yes. Take a listen when you are getting dressed, cooking dinner, running your errands or working out (you know, that New Years resolution you made). I hope it encourages you on your adventure with Christ and if you have not yet started it, well, it is a new day and there’s no time like today. Just say YES! Then seek Him, find Him & let His Spirit lead you. You’ll not be alone. He’ll be in your boat too.
As always… If you have a specific prayer request you’d like me to pray for you, I’d be honored to come alongside you this way. Just simply contact me.
BOOK UPDATE: We have received great feedback from those who have read Greg’s new book: He Calls Me Faithful: The Journey of Becoming a Man of Integrity. Many have said they picked it up, couldn’t put it down, and a few hours later, they were done! It’s an easy read and worth it. Greg was a USAF pilot when he sent me a “blind date letter” and I took the bait. He tells the story. The best story though is how Greg was set free from his addictions and how God restored our marriage & gave Greg a new name!
