A couple of days ago I was taking a drive with my son, Garrison and we were talking about the future when he will purchase his first home. He said “There are a lot of things that can be fixed in a house but if it doesn’t have a solid foundation, I am not interested in it.”

I agreed with him and that was the end of the conversation; however, today as I have been saturating in Luke 6, reading the words of Jesus, the thought returned to me. A firm foundation is necessary not only in physical land, but in the soil of our hearts so we will be stable, safe and standing with a sound mind when trouble comes our way. I know this to be true first hand!

Many are struggling these days feeling insecure, unsafe or unsettled in their spirits, which leads to anxiety, fear, worry, mental imbalances or other struggles in their relationships. I would like to propose a remedy that will allow for existing heart foundations in need of repair to be restored to premium quality and leave you with peace of mind.

To prepare for the heart analysis and personal inspection, you might consider reading Luke 6:38-49 right here and then consider these insights I borrowed from the words of Jesus.

Based on this written truth, we know that the words of Jesus we hear and believe, in turn get stored up in the treasury of our hearts. The Word Is the seed God plants deep in our soul that causes good fruit to grow and flourish. Luke 6:45 tells us a good man or woman brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart … and out of the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks!” What do we say when we speak? Words of course! The words that flow from our mouths directly reflect what is coming from our hearts.

I’m asking myself this same question I’m asking you.  What good words have been stored in your heart and are they flowing from your mouth to others? Do you have a ¼ or ½ measuring cup or is your measuring cup filled to the brim and overflowing because you are full of Him? Jesus is the Word and He is the Lord our God. He is the only source of good that can truly fill the cups of our hearts to overflowing, as we dwell and abide in His Word and in His sweet Presence.

This seed God plants is watered by the Holy Spirit and produces good fruit, and we can taste the goodness. You see, our beliefs, words and actions reflect what we have stored in our hearts. So, if the fruit that is produced is not good, the seed did not take root in the soil of the heart and it tastes bad. When inspected, it shows there is a spiritual foundation issue in need or being restored.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION – How to Have A Stable Foundation & Be Restored!

In Luke 6:40, we read a parable by Jesus; He is saying, “Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher,” and a few words before this statement, He is instructing us to give generously to others and to forgive freely, for as we forgive and give, we will be forgiven and given to in the same measure we’ve given to others.  In fact, He said a good measure will be pressed down, shaken together and poured into our laps.

The overflow of what we’ve stored up and poured out to others will flow back to us in abundance. Don’t believe me? Believe Jesus! These are His direct words. He says again in Luke 6:46-49 that if we call Him Lord, we should do what He says and put His words into practice. In doing so, we are building our homes on a stable foundation. There it is!

This is the key to a stable home that will not fall!

  • Believe in Jesus – Believe His Words
  • Dwell in God’s Presence and Treasure His Word
  • Practice His Presence by becoming like Him
  • THEN… when we are fully trained and filled up to the brim with HIm and watered by the Holy Spirit, we will overflow to others! AS WE ARE POURED OUT… our laps will be poured onto! It will never run out!

Let the word of God take root in your heart and produce good fruit. Allow the Holy Spirit to restore you and repair your tears and brokenness. Let Him prune the weeds (things you’ve held onto that He wants to deliver you from, like past sins, false accusations or agreements, offenses, unforgiveness, etc). HE DID IT FOR ME AND HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU TOO! Good Grief, I’m Healed!

This process of being washed by the Word of God will purify you so you can have a full cup to overflow hope! And when the storms of life come as they will, your spiritual home will be standing on a secure foundation and will not be destroyed in the process.  So as a great insurance policy, allow the restorer of hearts to put your foundation in order and then let the overflow happen. Good fruit! Good news!

As always… if you have a specific prayer request you’d like to me to pray, I’d be honored. Just reply to this email.

This Month’s GOOD eNEWS:

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38 NIV

And that is where the Good eNews takes root. Here is a tangible word picture example that helps me remember and try to demonstrate the point.

We are all like sponges. We soak up what we see, hear, read and believe. Then we spill out the same when we are squeezed. Anyone been squeezed a little lately? Who hasn’t? As Jesus gave many examples to demonstrate a point, here is a personal one. My family knows when I’ve been on the phone with my sweet Mississippi bestie, Teresa Tousley because suddenly I start talking just like her. My accent changes and my mannerisms will mirror hers as we laugh, cry and catch up with an old friend. Am I the only one this happens to?

Don’t most of us find ourselves acting and talking like our friends, family & mentors?

Without realizing it, we become like those we are surrounded by or those we’ve given permission to speak into our lives, whether through relationships, books, podcasts, youtube videos or social interactions. If we give them our time and attention, we are giving them permission to speak into our hearts. Then as we believe what they say, and do what they do, we become like them. Do you see where I’m going here?
