Two years ago this month…
Two years ago this month, Greg decided to publish his story of how one big decision & one small step at a time led him to completely change his future, our marriage & the dynamics of our family. He courageously took steps to make a change and let God transform him from the inside, and then the harder part came. A choice was made to take daily steps in faith, to walk the road of integrity that Greg so craved to live & be known for. It was in that journey, that trust was rebuilt & our marriage was restored. That was 22 years ago, the 16th year into our now 38+ years of marriage. So the steps that Greg took then have stood the test of time & now we take those next right steps as a unified couple, encouraging, loving and supporting each other daily as we each take our own next right steps. We are grateful & give God all the glory. This is not anything that we could’ve done on our own. Listen to that story…
I am telling you this because no matter what your story is… if you’re single, married, single again, young, more mature, educated or not, working or not-outside or in the home, with or without young children, teenagers or perhaps you’re in an “empty nest season of life,” this applies to you!
Also, if you currently are walking your journey with Jesus, or perhaps you’ve stepped off the path, or you’ve never made that decision to take steps with Him, there is HOPE FOR YOU! There is nothing you’ve ever done that is too far of a reach for the love of God to reach you. His forgiveness, mercy and grace is extended to ALL who will choose to take the NEXT RIGHT STEP towards HIM. If you’ve not been faithful…He still has! If you’ve been worried or anxious…He has not! If you’ve suffered in your relationships, in your body, in your mind, or in any way… Jesus understands…He too suffered and He cares about you!
In the Word of God (the REAL truth)… we learn that if we will seek God with all our hearts, and if we will believe in Him, trusting Jesus as Lord of our lives, we will find Him. He will bend His ears towards you when you lean in towards Him. He will HEAR your prayers, He will SEE you taking steps of Faith and He will heal your heart and place His Spirit and HOPE within you! THAT IS THE BEST GOOD NEWS EVER! Do you “want to” “want to believe” this truth? That is a great first step. Ask yourself what the next step is and take a step of faith to ask God to help you take that next step. Take His hand & speak out of your mouth to ask Him for help. Just like we do with toddlers learning to walk, we celebrate the steps they take and we do not scold them for falling down. We encourage them to get up again and take another step. It’s that simple. The Lord and His angels also celebrate when we take the best next right steps in the right direction and He helps us take those steps with Him.
In the process…the decisions you make and the steps you take will speak LOUDLY to those who are following behind you. You can use your words (to tell your story like Greg did), and you can use the Word of God (to read, grow and share His redeeming story to those you love), and you can also live a transformed life of integrity and love that speaks louder than words to many who know you and in whom you come in contact with.
Integrity seen, SPEAKS and LEADS others to live their own lives well and before you realize it, you’ve started a LEGACY for your family that is more valuable than your valuables.
